It's peak viewing season for the California poppy, so enjoy the solar-powered show. The Wildflower Hotline (http://www.theodorepayne.org/) will help you find out what's blooming in the West, while the National Parks Service (http://www.nps.gov/plants/cw/index.htm) provides wildflower resources nation-wide.

What kinds of flowers are popping up where you are? We just planted a handful of natives in our recently burned areas & hope to see some sprouting soon...

Black-Eyed Susan
Evening Primrose
Plains Coreopsis
Gaillardia Indian Blanket
Yellow Prarie Coneflower

In the meantime, the dogwoods & redbuds are in full, glorious bloom.

I've got a little lilac bush, but it hasn't bloomed even though lots of others around here are flowering like crazy - maybe next year. We've also got a lot of purple vetch (can't remember what spp it is) growing wild, and last night I saw so many different kinds of pollinators buzzing around it - wasps, bumble bees, butterflies, little bees....neat!
