How Did the Grizzly Cross the Road?
Barely.

Roads, subdivisions, logging and other forms of development split and
fragment animal habitat. Global warming adds to the urgency. If
migration routes are cut off by human obstacles, animals will be
unable to escape drought, floods and rising temperatures. More than a
million land species could face extinction within the next hundred
years.

But we can do something. We can create, protect and restore corridors
or wildways between protected areas. Sometimes, it’s as simple as an
animal overpass or a sympathetic landowner.
