Has anyone read this account of Dick Proenneke's 30 years in the Alaska wilderness? I saw his video on PBS last night and ordered the book from half.com.

I had forgotten all about this book. We too watched the PBS special way back. My Dad has the book. That would be great reading material for our camping weekend.

I can't wait to get my copy - wish I had it to take with us on our mini-vacation this weekend!

Yes, Yes, Yes. Years ago I saw it got the book immediately. Recorded the show. He has a new book out put out by the National Park Service which is written in his own words. I think they are some of his journal entries. Quite thick. Haven't read it yet. JoAnn
