Is anybody still active on this forum? I need some advice.

I have three little kids. 5 yrs old, 2 1/2 yrs old, 1 yr old.

I have an Ergo baby that I carry my year old in, but it has to go on my back since he hates my front. So I'm not sure how to carry water, snacks, etc, for small day hikes. Any advice?

Hi Sarah,
It's been pretty quiet around here lately, but I still pop in to check for signs of life! I had a Kelty pack for my kids, and it was neat because it had a zipper pouch that could hold a few snacks & a small water bottle or two. Wonder if you could strap a fanny pack or something onto your Ergo (like maybe under baby's bum)??
I bet Elizaray will have some thoughts...she is an absolute treasure trove of ideas!

In case you haven't done so already, you might also post this question over on the Outpost forum section at MaryJanesFarm (http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=6). It gets a bit more traffic

Thanks, girls!

I did a bit of a 'dry run' today with some friends so that they could help me if I'd packed too much or got overwhelmed.

I ended up putting a fanny type pack on under the Ergo, like you suggested, and it worked really well with the baby. I think this will be a wonderful summer...

Glad to hear the ideas! I have been pondering this question as I would like to start hiking with my Little Miss. She is 2 1/2 now and I don't have a carrier for her, but she likes to run along with us and if she gets tired I normally give her shoulder rides. I like the fanny pack idea. I have a dog that had a back pack for a while. Maybe I should sew one for her and make the dog carry the food and snacks! :D
